There’s a Pokemon Cafe?
Yes, there are two! Both are located in Japan, one in Tokyo and the other in Osaka. In 2023 I visited the Osaka location!
Here are my thoughts about the location, food, and vibes.
The Osaka Cafe is located on the Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street. It’s inside of a larger indoor shopping complex right next to the Pokemon Center Shop.(convenient!!)
Reservations are required, although I have heard tales of people getting lucky with a walk up if someone with a reservation happens to no-show or cancel at that exact time.
When we arrived at the cafe, we checked in and were taken to our table immediately. It was decorated with paper place mats featuring different pokemon.
Each ordered drink also comes with a random, thin plastic coaster. Luckily we pulled all different designs!
We ordered a Pikachu omurice, Quaxly cheescake, Eevee iced cafe latte, and a Quaxly soda topped with ice cream. Everything tasted fine! It was exactly what I anticipated from a themed cafe chain.
As expected with themed cafes, the decor and vibes were what made our experience the most fun. It was so fun to return to that childlike sense excitement and joy.
A few Pikachus could be spotted dining amongst the customers.
I wanted to take those cardboard cutouts home so badly! The art style they use is adorable.
And of course a trip to a themed cafe is never complete without the obligatory photo op!
The Pokemon Cafe in Osaka, Japan is a must visit for fans of the series, young and old alike. People may say it’s not “worth” a stop because the food is mid, but you’re really paying for the experience. If you are a fan of Pokemon you will have a blast!
